Club History

Rotary’s Impact is felt worldwide daily and begins here in Central Florida and Winter Park.

For example, since the Rotary Club of Winter Park’s beginning March 18, 1947 it has been instrumental in creation of Central Park’s Band Shell, Dinkey Dock, the exercise area adjacent to WPHS and Veteran’s facility. Additionally, Rotarian’s helped with many more landmarks designed to improve our community, like expansion of Rollin’s baseball stadium, gardens at Killarney Elementary, play ground improvements at WP Day Nursery and many other projects.

On a less “concrete” basis WP Rotarian’s annually help with community events like the WP Art Festival, Chili for Charity, WP Holiday marching and boat parades, all of which provide Service, but more importantly provide opportunities to fund raise to create grant funds for over 40 local nonprofits providing services to our community.

This spirit of giving contributes to an international network of helping. While we are blessed but in need, so are many parts of the world, and Winter Park Rotarian’s have met that challenge as well, by building “safe water” projects in Mexico, community wells in Costa Rica, cleft lip surgery centers, in several countries and stoves for hot safe food in other countries.

The impact of the motto “Service Above Self” has made Rotary a leader in Youth and Adult Exchange Programs around the globe, including several Master’s degree programs to meet the future needs of International Understanding and administration. Recognized as a leader in wiping out Polio in the world and addressing safe drinking water for our world, are just a few of the things members accomplish as they get to know their neighbors here in our community.

Through weekly meetings, monthly socials and numerous opportunities to be of service Rotarian’s and their families contribute to making Winter Park the vibrant community we enjoy! Come see if what we do, is what you’d like to be doing, while meeting new similar “community minded” neighbors. Hope to see you soon!
